The Historic Route of Ethiopia
Day 01: Arrive Addis Ababa
Upon Arrival at Addis Ababa, the one time "capital of Africa", we arewelcomed and transferred to our hotel.
Overnight: Hilton Hotel, Addis Ababa (2 nights)
Day 02: Arrive Addis Ababa
Afternoon we enjoy a tour of the Archaeological Museum then Merketo,the largest open-air market in Africa. (B, L, D)
Day 03: Addis Ababa / Baher Dar (Flight)
Morning, we take a short flight to Baher Dar. Upon arrival we firstcheck in at our hotel. Our afternoon sightseeing of this famous area isby boat excursion on Lake Tana to visit one of the islands with its monasterycalled "Ura Kidane Mihret".

Day 04: Baher Dar
Morning drive to the gigantic Blue Nile Falls, locally known as Tiss- Issat "Water that smokes". From here we take a walk through fertile fieldsto a final climb up a grassy hillside to the outstanding vantage pointof the Blue Nile Falls. Here the rewarding view is spectacular as the roaringwater drops over150 feet. On our way back we visit the Beziet Palace offormer Emperor Haile Sellasie followed by a tour of city with it's fascinatingmarkets of Baher Dar. (B, L, D)
Day 05: Baher Dar / Gondar (Flight)
Morning we take a short flight to Gondar, a fortress city of an astonishing,turreted 17th century castle and church. Founded in 1632 by Emperor Fassiledes,Gondar was once Ethiopia's capital. Afternoon city tour includes the Castles,Facil Bath and the Churches of Debre Berhan Selllasie and Kusquam.

Day 06: Gondar
Day excursion to Semien Mountain, known as the Roof of Africa. On ourway back, we visit the traditional Felasha Village and market. (B, L, D)
Day 07: Gondar / Lalibela (Flight)
This morning we take a short flight to Lalibela, once a thriving andpopulous capital of a medieval dynasty. This awe-inspiring historic townthat grooms rock-hewn churches, is believed to have been built in the late12th century by King Lalibella. The remarkable edifices were curved outof solid rocks are ranked among the wonders of the world. Each church orbuilding is architecturally unique, all are finely carved and several aredecorated with beautiful paintings that remained for about 800 years. Lalibellais arguably the one place in Ethiopia that no tourist should miss. Thisafternoon is spent visiting the 1st part of the Rock Hewn Churches.

Day 08: Lalibela
Our morning excursion takes us to the outskirts of the town to visitthe Na'akutoleab Monastery. Built from inside a cave, the Rock Hewn churchis a very interesting site. The afternoon is spent visiting the 2nd partof the Rock Hewn Churches. (B, L, D)
Day 09: Lalibella / Axum (Flight)
Today's flight takes us to the Land of Queen Sheba. Axum was the kingdomthat dominated Africa and Asia for a thousand years. Axum's most importantbuilding is the Church of St. Mary of Zion where according to Ethiopianlegend, The Ark of the Covenant resides, brought by King Solomon and Queenof Sheba's son "Menelik" almost 3000 years ago. Afternoon tour includesvisit to the museum, Obelisks and Stele, the Castle Ruins of King Kaleband Queen of Sheba's Bath and Palace Ruins.
Overnight: Yeha Hotel, Axum (1 Night) (B, L, D)
Day 10: Axum / Addis Ababa (Flight)
Morning we depart for our flight back to Addis Ababa. The afternoonis free to explore the town on your own.

Day 11: Depart Addis Ababa
As we bid farewell to the land of the famous Queen of Sheba, we aretransferred to the airport for our departure flight. (B)
