FAQs REGARDING AIG EGYPT TRAVEL CARE INSURANCE:
Q - What information is required for insurance policy issuance?
A - The traveler's full name, date of birth, address, gender, telephone and/or mobile number, destination, departure date, period of stay and passport number are all required.  The traveler's e-mail address is optional.
 
Q - Can an insurance policy be amended?
A - Yes, a policy can be amended, but only before its effective date.  This is called an endorsement.
 
Q - Can an insurance policy be cancelled?
A - Yes, a policy can be cancelled by the traveler before the effective date only, after deducting a 20% cancellation fee, with a maximum fee of EGP 50 per policy.  Egypt Panorama Tours' EGP 25 processing fee, if applicable, is not refundable under any circumstances.
 
Q - What documentation must I provide in order to cancel a policy before its effective date?
A - The documentation differs from case to case, as follows:
1- If the client cancels due to visa application refusal by an embassy:
In such cases the following should be provided:  (a) a copy of the embassy visa refusal stamp on the passport or a copy of the refusal form, (b) the original canceled insurance policy, and (c) the cancellation receipt from the AIG Egypt online system (given by Egypt Panorama Tours) signed by the client.
 
2- If the client cancels in order to change from one period of coverage to another period of coverage or if there is a user error:
In such cases the following should be provided:  (a) the original policy with the incorrect period, (b) a copy of the newly-issued policy, and (c) the cancellation receipt from the AIG Egypt online system (given by Egypt Panorama Tours) signed by the client (or signed by the user in the event that it was his/her error).
 
3- If the client cancels because the embassy involved has asked for more documents which cannot be provided or if the client decides not to apply for a visa due to personal reasons, thus canceling the trip:
In these cases the following should be provided:  (a) a copy of the entire passport (showing that no visa was ever obtained), (b) the original policy, (c) the cancellation receipt from the AIG Egypt online system (given by Egypt Panorama Tours) signed by the client.
 
Q - Can an insurance policy be modified or canceled after the effective date?
A - No.
 
Q - Can an insurance policy be backdated?
A - No.
 
Q - What does "dependent" mean?
A -  A "dependent" is the spouse of the subscriber, the unmarried children of the subscriber or the parents-in-law of the subscriber.  Note that children must be 30 days of age or more at the inception date.
 
Q - What if a client loses his original policy?
A - A duplicate insurance policy can be reprinted.  The duplicate copy will say "duplicate" on it.  There is a EGP 25 service fee assessed by Egypt Panorama Tours for the printing of a duplicate AIG Egypt insurance policy. 
 
Q - What is the procedure for filing a claim in case of common carrier baggage loss?
A -
  • Provide a copy of the check issued by the common carrier confirming the common carrier's acceptance of the claim.
  • Provide a list of the contents of the lost luggage, with the value of each item.
  • These documents should be sent to the claims administrator within 30 days of the date of loss.  Written evidence is required where appropriate.

    Q - When should the traveler call the AIG assistance company, and what is the role of the the AIG assistance company?
    A - The traveler should call the AIG assistance company in case of accident or emergency.  The roles of the AIG assistance company are as follows:
    1- The assistance company will contact the medical facility or location where the traveler is located and confer with the physician at that location to determine the best course of action to be taken.
    2- The assistance company will recommend a local physician or secure the services of a local physician and arrange appropriate hospital confinement.
    3- If necessary, the assistance company will arrange for emergency medical evacuation.  That is, the assistance company will have the traveler moved from his/her place of stay abroad to the nearest hospital or to another location for treatment.    
    4- If necessary, the assistance company may also elect to perform emergency medical repatriation -- that is, to return the traveler to his/her home country.
    5- In case of death, the assistance company will arrange to repatriate personal remains from abroad to the traveler's home country.
     
    Q - What is the procedure for claims administration in case of accident or sickness medical expenses?
    A - When the traveler undergoes medical treatment for an injury or for sickness, he can claim from the start of the course until the time when it is medically confirmed that the treatment is no longer necessary. During this period all related bills, receipts, medical reports and other documentation upon which a claim is based should be ready to be presented to the claims administrator along with the traveler's passport and the original insurance policy.
     
    Q - Whom should the traveler contact in case of emergency or in case he/she requires assistance?
    A - The traveler should get in touch with the assistance company whose contact details are shown on the insurance certificate.
     
    Q - Whom should the traveler contact abroad in case of any claim which he/she has already paid?
    A - The traveler should get in touch with the claims administrator whose contact details are shown on the insurance certificate.
     
    Q - Whom should the traveler contact after returning to Egypt with respect to any claim which he/she has already paid?

    Excluded are costs arising from trips specifically made for the purpose of obtaining medical treatment.  Any pre-existing medical condition is also excluded.

    Premiums are priced in Egyptian pounds (EGP).  For those who prefer to pay in U. S. dollars, Egypt Panorama Tours will simply convert at the current exchange rate.  As of 5 February 2007, USD 1.00 = EGP 5.69.  Egypt Panorama Tours charges a EGP 25 processing fee on all policies for which the premium is less than EGP 500.
