For those who prefer less expensive transportation, there is also a train with roughly similar timings which offers first class seats. A one way train fare from Cairo to Luxor/Aswan is less than USD 30 on this train (plus our USD 30 procurement fee).
Due to the difficulty in procuring train tickets (regular or sleeper) in Egypt, we assess a fee of USD 30 covering all such tickets purchased at the same time. In other words, our fee for purchasing a single train ticket is USD 30, and our total fee for purchasing two or three train tickets at the same time is also the same USD 30, to be split by all travelers. Our fees are levied in addition to the actual cost of the train tickets purchased.
We also invite a comparison of the sleeper train fares given above with the current economy class airfares on Egypt Air. CLICK HERE to see the current domestic airfares.
Trains with first class seats also run every few hours between Cairo and Alexandria. The roundtrip fare is less than USD 25 on most of these trains. Travel time is usually three hours or less each way.
